Step-By-Step Basic Training Manual

Are you currently a LINK user? Download the self-guided LINK training manual and LINK overview video to learn the basic functions of LINK in Steps 1 though 9. The objective of LINK training, Fundamentals & Basic Operation, is to provide introductory training to the LINK software platform. Following this training, a user will be able to successfully import data, analyze data, create reports, and manage their projects/analysis templates.

Data Import

LINK’s unique import engine parses data directly from over 50 different analytical instruments. The data import function is used to transcribe all useful information from instrument data files to the LINKdb. To download the video, click here.

A scheduled import requires a user to request that the LINK server will scan select network locations at a particular time & day for any new instrument data that has been generated. This new data will be added to an existing project. To download the video, click here.

 

Using the Excel Measurement Import Template worksheet, data in an Excel workbook can be imported into LINK. Measurements are considered unique based on the file name, Excel row number, sample name, and analysis date. To download the video, click here.

For some Particle Analysis techniques/instruments, LINK will allow calculation and reporting of particle sub-populations based on particle characteristics. To download the video, click here.

CPPs are mathematical combinations of existing particle parameters. A value is calculated for each particle detected by a given particle counting technique. CPPs will be calculated automatically on import. To download the video, click here.

Automated Metadata Extractions allows metadata to be extracted directly from data fields in the measurement file or from the folder names in the measurement file network path. To download the video, click here.

Data Analysis 

The design of LINK’s Analysis UI is based on dashboards. Each dashboard is a set of configuration parameters defining a different “lens” through which to view the measurement data. Every dashboard contains a Chart, notes block, Stats Table, Tabular Summary and thumbnail images. To download the video, click here.

The dashboard library feature provides the ability to instantly apply built-in dashboards to any analysis template. The dashboards range from single sample reporting through to complete and comprehensive bio-physical analysis involving thousands of measurements and hundreds of instruments/analytical techniques. Measurement Summary Tables are highly flexible user-configurable tabular summaries that may contain instrument/user LINKdb fields, statistical calculations, and even columns calculated as a function of other columns in the table. To download the video, click here.

Define series display preferences (style, color, size, weight, etc…) for all series on a given chart. The option to apply the new display preferences to a single dashboard or all dashboards is available. To download the video, click here.

Thumbnail Image Options allow one to specify display preferences applicable to all thumbnail groups. Image Explorer is a view of all particle images available in for the image group, select specific images to be displayed, prevent specific images from being selected by LINK for display and other preferences. Metadata is a set of data that describes and gives information about other data. LINK supports the creation of User LINKdb Fields for the purposes of adding metadata to measurements (e.g. formulation/sample attributes) that may in turn be utilized in analysis/processing/reports. MFI permits removal of particles from the dataset that are visualized as bubbles, or particulate nestled within the air bubbles. Once the job is complete, all selected images will be removed from the dataset. To download the video, click here.

The peak fit algorithm can be defined to use only the points near the top of the peak to perform the Gaussian curve fit. For example, a value of 20% below will only consider the data points within 20% of the max value on either side of the selected series peak. To download the video, click here.

Chart Markers feature provides the ability to plot LINKdb field as markers with custom labels to the Line Chart series. The Chart Fill Regions feature provides the ability to define fill regions on the chart, specifically a new LINKdb field is dynamically created and calculated upon import. The Line Chart supports ‘Curve Analysis’ where Custom Curve Parameters are calculated to compare two curves with different x-axis coordinates. A linear interpolation will be used to estimate the comparing series’ y-axis value with that of the reference series, for the given x-axis value of the reference curve. The LINK Column Chart supports the application of Multi-Layer X-Axis Categories in which a user can optionally apply split field values as x-axis labels. To download the video, click here.

This feature will apply a one-time filter to the current dashboard, to filter active measurements based on quantitative results. By selecting a common LINKdb Field value (e.g. based on matching Sample Names), one can specify criteria that span across multiple measurements and analytical techniques. LINK dashboards are created within an analysis and applies user-configurable charts/tables/images data processing preferences to project measurements. LINK provides the ability to export a dashboard (including Filter Panel settings & Measurement Summary Tables) to a file that can be imported into another analysis template or instance of LINK. Data Reporting / Export

LINK contains a variety of tools to export LINK-processed data. Any dashboard object, such as charts, tables, and particle images, can be exported as an image (i.e. copy to clipboard, for subsequent paste to Word to/from clipboard) or saved to a file. To download the video, click here.

 

Generate a custom Word Report Template to the LINK sever computer, where the custom Word Report Template includes Word Report Tags that instruct LINK to copy specific dashboard objects to specific locations in the Word Template. Apply a custom Word Report Template to the current analysis template/project for automated Word report generation. To download the video, click here.

Database Management

LINKdb Fields are database fields containing values that apply to each individual measurement/LINK Record ID. There are two types of LINKdb fields: Instrument LINKdb Fields (imported from the instrument data) and User LINKdb Fields (generated by a user). To download the video, click here.

LINK has the capability to organize projects into folders & sub-folders. This can be done at the point of import or through the Project Management interface. To download the video, click here.

Measurement Search scans all Projects for measurements meeting specified search criteria. Measurements found can then be copied to an existing project or to a new project. To download the video, click here.

Produce an exact replica of all measurements in the project that have been selected in the Filter Panel. Measurements that are a clone, may be identified by the LNK_Clone and LNK_Clone_Date LINKdb Field values that are populated. To download the video, click here.

LINK provides the ability to permanently delete all measurements in the project that have been selected in the Filter Panel. Make sure only the measurements you would like to delete are selected. Navigate to the edit and select “Delete Measurements”. This will delete all measurements selected. To download the video, click here.

Project Merge is the ability to merge multiple projects into one new larger project. When selecting projects to merge, if the same measurement exists in two or more projects, only one (and its metadata) may be transferred to the new project. To download the video, click here.
